Christmas Hampers

Connecting with our neighborhood has always been a priority for the faculty and students of Heart. The Founders of our school - the Presentation & Mercy Sisters -  have made community outreach a vital part of Heart's mission and purpose. This tradition carries on as reminder of their lasting influence in our school.

For six decades now, food hampers have been distributed to families in need within our immediate community. Twice a year, at Thanksgiving and at Christmas, abundant hampers with turkey, ham, and all the trimmings are distributed to members of our school community and neighborhood. Students promote the initiative, collect and sort the foods, fund-raise for gift cards and customize hampers to suits specific cultural and dietary needs, when known. Many years, some forty or so hampers have been distributed in the autumn and again at the holidays.

As a symbol of our gratitude to The Sisters of Mercy and The Presentation Congregation, we are committed in our 60th anniversary year to generating foods and toiletries for 60 hampers, twice! Creating greeting cards, sorting foods and delivering cheerful abundance gives Heart students essential lessons in the importance of building a community.  Help us to collect non-perishable food items, gift cards from supermarkets or must useful of all - donate $60  to this worthy endeavor. Helping our students to fully understand their world - one family, one neighborhood at a time is truly a school and life lesson worth repeating.
